SALT LAKE CITY — Two Utah Catholic Schools principals will leave their positions this year for others in the diocese.
Holy Cross Sister Karla McKinnie, who has been principal of Saint Andrew School in Riverton since it opened in 2007, will take a full-time position in the Utah Catholic Schools office. She will work with Daughter of Charity Sister Stella Marie Zahner, coordinator of the Special Needs program, which provides scholarships to children in need.
Louise Herman, who has been principal of Our Lady of Lourdes School in Salt Lake City for the past five years, will move to Saint Andrew School. Herman has worked for many years in diocesan schools; before her position at Our Lady of Lourdes School she was at Saint John the Baptist School.
Another recent change was the dissolving of the separate school boards for Saint Joseph Elementary and Saint Joseph High schools in Ogden, and the commissioning of the new board for the Saint Joseph Schools in Utah. A ceremony marking the change occurred May 10. The theme was "For all that has been – thanks. For all that will be – yes." During the ceremony, members who had served on the separate board were thanked for their service. Many of them will serve on the new board.
