SALT LAKE CITY — Alan "Al" Garney Potvien, 57, passed away Sept. 2, 2012 after a battle with leukemia. Potvien was born on Aug. 25, 1955 in Duluth, Minn. In 1980 he married Linda Boardwell. He worked for the Utah State Liquor Commission. Potvien is survived by his wife, Linda; children Tessa Lin, Marc Alan Garney, and Jay William; mother Helen; siblings Monica, Gerard (Mary), Renee (Scott), Anita (Fred), Tim, Tom, and many cherished nieces and nephews. Potvien was preceded in death by his father, Garney. A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
