SALT LAKE CITY — Ann Start passed away unexpectedly at home on May 18, 2011. Start was born on April 29, 1930 to Anna and James Kennedy in Detroit, Mich. She married John E. "Jack" Start on Sept. 8, 1953. Although they later divorced, eight wonderful children came from that marriage. She was a dedicated mother and also held various positions including school teacher in the Detroit Public School System, working for the Census Bureau and market research for Gay Hill Field Service. Start is survived by her children John (Beth), Mary Ann (Tom), Danny (Regina), Annie (Kenny), Phil (Marjorie), Paul (Kelly), and Jim (Tristin); 17 grandchildren; and one great grandchild; brother Jim Kennedy; and her very dear brother-in-law Eugene (Barbara) Start. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and her daughter, Jeanne Harris.
