Anthony Joseph Melo

BALLARD — Anthony Joseph "Tony" Melo, 77, passed away May 19, 2011 at the Uintah Basin Care Center.

Melo was born July 1, 1933 in Price to Battista and Louisa Arongia Melo. He married Wilma Maude Johnson April 27, 1957 in Moab. She died Feb. 11, 2010. He served in the US Marines during the Korean conflict.

Melo drove a coal truck for many years and loved his job; he also worked as a heavy equipment operator. He loved his wife very much and they relished riding together on their tractor. He was a excellent dancer and especially liked the polka.

Melo is survived by his children, Elizabeth "Liz" Tonne, Price; Rose M. (Carl) Allred, Helper; Battista J. "Bud" (Danna) Melo, Ballard, Anthony A. Melo, Roosevelt; adopted daughter, Karen (Woody Davenport) Conner, Ballard; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and a sister Freda Dixon, Douglas, Wyo.

Melo was preceded in death by his parents, wife, siblings Mary Rodell, Sam Melo, Angelo Melo, John Melo, Joe Melo and son-in-law, Jerry Tonne.

Funeral services were celebrated at Saint Helen’s Catholic Church in Roosevelt. Military honors presented by American Legion Post #64 and the Utah National Guard.
