July 10, 1923 ~ April 20, 2019

Antonio Jose Salazar, 95, passed away on April 20, 2019. He was born July 10, 1923 in Las Nutras, New Mexico to Manuel Sabino Salazar and Carlota Ulibarri. He married Esperanza Cervantes on January 27, 1951 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ogden. At the time of his death, he was a member of St. James the Just Parish.

Tony served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a tank driver in the European Theater and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He retired from Hill Air Force Base, where he was a sheet metal worker for aircraft. After retiring from Hill, he worked at St. Joseph Elementary for many years.

He was an avid fisherman but traded his fishing pole for golf clubs and was golfing up to a month before his passing. He was a big Utah Jazz fan and enjoyed woodworking and puzzles.

Tony is survived by his wife Esperanza “Hope,” son David Salazar, daughter Patricia Dinsdale (Douglas), five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, eight siblings and two great-grandsons.

A funeral Mass was celebrated April 25, 2019 at St. James the Just Catholic Church. Interment at Evergreen Memorial Park.
