Holy Land pilgrimage — Saint Rose of Lima Parish in Layton is planning a 10-day pilgrimage to the Holy Land Nov. 7, 2011. The cost for the trip is $3,395 including the round-trip flight, most meals, Bethlehem, four days in Jerusalem, and more. Pilgrimage to Sicily and Italy — Oct. 17-28, with Msgr. Robert Servatius, pastor of Blessed Sacrament Parish, Sandy. The pilgrimage will visit many historical sites, cities and prominent landmarks. In Rome there will be an audience with the pope, and tour of St. Peter’s Basilica, Vatican museums, the Sistine Chapel and other major basilicas. Judge Memorial Catholic High School’s Annual Chamber Night — Wednesday, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m. in the Music Room, 650 South 1100 East, Salt Lake City. St. Jude Maronite Catholic Church two-day celebration — Wednesday, Feb. 9, Vespers, at 6 p.m.; Sunday, Feb. 13, Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Jude Maronite Catholic Church, 4900 Wasatch Street, Murray. Parishioners, friends and neighbors are invited to this Jubilee of 1,600 years of St. Maron. Our guest celebrant is Father Abdallah Zaidan from our co-Cathedral, Our Lady of Mt. Lebanon in Los Angeles, Calif. He will share a message about the synod he attended in Rome with Bishop Robert Shaheen this past year. The celebration for St. Maron will be on Sunday, Feb. 13, with Divine Liturgy at 10:30 a.m., followed by a family style dinner. ‘Once Upon A Mattress’ — Wednesday-Saturday, Feb. 23-26, at 7 p.m. in the Juan Diego Catholic High School auditorium, 300 East 11800 South, Draper. DCCW and St. Thomas More Parish Women’s Retreat — Friday, Feb. 25 at 6:30 p.m., and Saturday, Feb. 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Father Rick Sherman, pastor of Saint Elizabeth Parish, Saint Jude Mission and Saint Juan Diego Mission, will present the retreat on God’s Plan of Salvation and "Theology of the Body." Family Math and Science Night — Thursday, Feb. 10 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament School in the gymnasium, 1745 East 9800 South, Sandy. It will feature more than 20 math and science activities for pre-kindergarten through 8th grade students and their families. The event will be held in conjunction with the middle school science fair. Pro-life Mass — Saint James Knights of Columbus are sponsoring a Right to Life Mass, Saturday, Feb. 26 at 5 p.m. at Saint James Parish, 495 N. Harrison Blvd., Ogden.

 

Hockey in Harmony — The Juan Diego Performing Arts Department will perform at the Grizzlies Hockey Game during intermission on Feb. 19. The game begins at 7 p.m. Discount tickets are $15, and on sale through Feb. 18 available at jennifer.fynbo@imail.org. Ticket sales will raise funds for the choir to go to California this spring and the Drama trip to New York City.

 

28th Annual Traditional Basque Dinner and Dance — Saturday, Feb. 12, at Saint Ambrose Parish in the St. Ambrose Hall, 1975 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City. Mardi Gras celebration — Saturday, March 5, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the Saint Olaf McNamara Center, 1850 S. Orchard Drive, Bountiful. Summer Science Internships — Juan Diego Catholic High School is now accepting applications for student internships with the University of Utah College of Pharmacy. Students participate in research in the biomedical sciences over eight weeks during the summer. It is open to JDCHS students in grades 10th through 12th who will have completed three or more science courses by the end of the 2010-2011 school year. St. Paul Center Masses and SCAP services — A bilingual SCAP service is held on the second Sunday of the month at the St. Paul Center in Hurricane. The third and fifth Sundays are English SCAP services and Mass is celebrated on the first and fourth Sundays of the month.
