Eccles Organ Festival — Sunday, Oct. 13, 8 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple, SLC. Benjamin Sheen, associate organist at St. Thomas Church, New York City, will perform. Free; open to the public.

Kickoff for New Men’s Group — Wednesday, Oct. 16, 7 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Parish’s Benvegnu Center, 1375 E. Spring Lane, SLC. This is a kickoff for Men Alive in the Spirit, a new organization that will minister to men by concentrating on their deepest daily concerns. It will begin with a series of seven discussions of what it means to be a husband and father. All men are invited.

Pastoral Musicians Workshop —Saturday, Oct. 19, 9 a.m. – noon at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 300 East 11800 South, Draper, sponsored by the diocesan Office of Liturgy.  Chris Huntzinger, director of liturgy and music at St. Ambrose Parish, will present “Formed by Love, a reflection on how liturgical music inspires and teaches.” Cost: $15. Catechist Faith Formation Certification Training — beginning Saturday, Oct. 19, 9-11 a.m. at the diocesan Pastoral Center, 27 C St., SLC. For those who are discerning a call to teach religious faith formation/Sunday school as well for those catechists who still need certification. This program helps beginners with how to start in the classroom, learning and sharing ideas from other catechists. Holy Hour for Life — Saturday, Oct. 19, 1 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 506 24th St., Ogden. Bilingual. Come join us for Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, praying the rosary and benediction, as we pray for an end to abortion, capital punishment, physician-assisted suicide, and for a greater reverence for the Gospel of Life.

Catholics Can Mass — Sunday, Oct. 20, 11:30 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1375 E. Spring Lane, SLC, celebrated by Bishop Oscar A. Solis. This annual Mass celebrates the many gifts and contributions made by people with disabilities in the diocese. Sponsored by the diocesan Commission for People with Disabilities. Rosary and Holy Hour — Sunday, Oct. 20, 3 p.m. at the Carmelite monastery, 5714 Holladay Blvd., SLC. All are invited to join the Knights of Columbus Council #5214 and the Carmelite nuns to praise God, honor his mother and pray for our Holy Catholic Church. To celebrate the first anniversary of this Holy Hour, there will be drinks and a snack afterwards.

Commission for People with Disabilities — The commission is seeking interested people to serve. Consider nominating yourself or someone to the diocesan Commission for People with Disabilities. The commission meets monthly to implement the Diocese Master Plan to include all Catholics with disabilities in the faith life of the diocese and parishes. To be considered, contact your pastor.

Scout Religious Emblems — Now is the time to begin working on your Girl Scout, Cub Scout and Scouts BSA religious emblems. The Diocese of Salt Lake City hosts an awards ceremony each year in January or February at the Cathedral of the Madeleine with Bishop Oscar Solis. Assistive Listening Devices — Up to 20 percent of all people have some degree of hearing loss. The Diocese of SLC Commission for People with Disabilities assists parishes with the purchase of assistive listening devices so that everyone can hear and understand what is spoken at Mass.
