Chrism Mass — Thursday, April 14 at 7 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City. The Catholics of Utah are invited to participate, along with the clergy of the Diocese of Salt Lake City, in the celebration of the Chrism Mass. The Chrism Mass has a triple focus: the celebration of the ordained, recognition of the unity of priests and people with their bishop and consecration of the oils for the sacraments.

 

Breakfast — April 10, after the 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Masses. The Knights of Columbus at Saint Rose of Lima Parish will sponsor a breakfast after the Masses. All proceeds will go to the Pregnancy Care Center.

 

Mass of Thanksgiving — The Most Reverend John C. Wester, Bishop of Salt Lake City, cordially invites you to a Mass of thanksgiving on Sunday, May 22, 2 p.m., at Saint Ann Catholic Church, 450 East 2100 South, Salt Lake City, honoring Reverend Monsignor J. Terrence Fitzgerald, PA, VG, as Monsignor retires from active ministry. A reception will follow in the parish center.

 

Juan Diego Catholic High School Dance Concert
— April 13-15, at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium, 300 East 11800 South, Draper. The cost is $8 for adults, $5 for seniors and children under 16. Juan Diego students and faculty are free. Tickets will be sold at the door.

 

49er Club activities — Thursday, April 14, at 1:45 p.m. is a 49er Club meeting in St. Ambrose social hall, 1975 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City. We’ve planned a trip to Wendover Friday, April 15. For reservations, call Robin Barber at 801-582-2222.

 

Madrigal Singers — April 15, at 7 p.m. Concert at Saint Joseph the Worker Parish, 7405 S. Redwood Road, West Jordan. The Madrigal Singers, who performed for Popes Paul VI and John Paul II, has been designated as the UNESCO Artists for Peace and was the winner of the European Grand Prix for Choral Singing. All are invited to attend.

 

Give Me A Chance Fashion Show — Friday, April 15 at 5 p.m. hors d’oeuvres, fashion show at 6 p.m. Join us for the 2011 "Swing into Spring" fashion show sponsored by Saint Joseph Catholic High School, 1790 Lake St. (2550 South), Ogden. The show will feature the work of local women from Ogden’s Give Me a Chance Sewing Center. Items modeled will include casual clothing, First Communion dresses, Easter dresses and prom dresses. There will also be a boutique during this event.

 

Judge Memorial Catholic High School’s Annual Spring Dance Concert — "What If …" April 14-16, at 7 p.m. in the Judge Memorial auditorium, 650 South 1100 East, Salt Lake City. The concert features a large cast of performers and is a collaborative effort of dancers, choreographers, tech support and students. Visit www.judgememorial.com for information.

 

Saint Thomas More Lenten Fish Fry — Friday, April 15 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Myer Hall at Saint Thomas More Parish, 3015 E. Creek Road, Sandy. A full-meal deal includes the best filet of fish in town, side dishes, dessert and drinks all for one low price. Final Fish Fry of Lent. Also 50/50 raffle.

 

Ukrainian Catholics of the Eastern Rite (aka Ukrainian Greek-Catholics) Easter Divine Liturgy — April 24, at 12:30 p.m. at Saint Jude Maronite Catholic Church, 4893 S. Wasatch St., Murray. We will gather following the Divine Liturgy for the blessing of Easter baskets and meet in the Church Hall. Anyone interested in this event is welcome. Megan Joy Concert — April 16, pre-concert silent auction and refreshments will be held at 6 p.m. in the Great Hall. Concert at 7 p.m. Megan Joy, American Idol top-10 finalist, will perform a concert in Juan Diego Catholic High School auditorium, 300 East 11800 South, Draper. The concert will benefit the baseball team. Tickets are $25, general admission is $20. Tickets for Skaggs Catholic Center students are available in the main office, from any baseball player, or at the door.

 

Lenten Supper and presentation — Monday, April 18, at 6 p.m. in the Juan Diego Catholic High School Commons, 300 East 11800 South, Draper. A Lenten soup, salad, and bread dinner will be followed by a presentation about homeless youth in Salt Lake County. The Home and School Association of Juan Diego Catholic High School is holding a Lenten Outreach project to benefit homeless youth served through Volunteers of America. The public is invited to hear a panel discussion with Volunteers of America representatives, Juan Diego parent volunteers, and Juan Diego students who have supported this mission. Pilgrimage to Sicily and Italy — Oct. 17-28. There are still spaces available on the pilgrimage to Sicily and Italy with Monsignor Robert Servatius, pastor of Blessed Sacrament Parish, Sandy. The pilgrimage will visit many historical sites, cities and prominent landmarks. In Rome there will be an audience with the pope and tours of St. Peter’s Basilica, Vatican museums, the Sistine Chapel and other major basilicas. For more information or a color brochure, call Msgr. Saint Joseph Catholic Schools’ 33rd Annual ‘SPREE’
— "Night at the SJCHS Corral" April 16, at the Ogden Union Station. The cost is $75 per person. Spring Basketball Clinics — April 18-20 at J.E. Cosgriff Catholic School, 2335 Redondo Ave., Salt Lake City. Former University of Utah basketball players Josh Grant and Jimmy Soto, also a Judge Memorial Catholic High School graduate, will hold two sessions each evening. PARA Co-ed Slow pitch softball — The Parish Athletic Recreation Association (PARA) sponsors an adult co-ed slow-pitch softball league for 18+, but some 16- and 17-year-olds have been allowed to play if their parents are also participating. You can sign up by yourself, but team fees are $300. All games are on Sunday afternoons from June 5 to Aug. 28, at Harman Park 3700 S. Main, Salt Lake City. Youth Ministry — Sunday, May 1, at 5 p.m. the Office of Youth Ministry and the Office of Hispanic Ministries will host a Mass for the youth of the diocese at Saint Ann Parish, 450 East 2100 South, Salt Lake City. The Most Rev. John C. Wester will be the celebrant. All are invited, but minors must be accompanied by a responsible chaperone or parent. Light refreshments will be served afterwards.
