40 Hours Devotion for Vocations — Dec. 8 – Dec. 14. Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 715 West 300 North, SLC, will have a special 40-hour period of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament in solemn exposition with a special emphasis for vocations. Contact the parish for details.
The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary — this year is transferred to Monday, Dec. 9 because Dec. 8 is the Second Sunday of Advent. The obligation to attend Mass, however, does not transfer. The optional memorial of St. Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin, Dec. 9, is omitted this year.

Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe — Celebrations in Spanish will begin on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple, SLC at 7:30 p.m. with the rosary led by the children; 8:30 p.m. with mariachi; outdoor procession at 9:30 p.m. and a vigil at 10 p.m. with the Cathedral Spanish Choir and Orchestra. 11 p.m. Mass with Bishop Oscar A. Solis. Aztec dancers at midnight, and a reception of traditional bread and hot chocolate in the lower level of the cathedral. Mass will also be celebrated on Thursday, Dec. 12 at 8 a.m. (English), noon (bilingual) with The Madeleine Choir School, and at 5:15 p.m. (English).

Volunteer at Give Me A Chance — Volunteer in the after-school program, listen to children read for 20 minutes, assist students with homework, participate in play activities.
