Bircumshaw, diocesan administrator, reminds all pastors, deacons, principals, religious and laity charged with creating calendars for their parish, school or Catholic organization that in keeping with a longstanding policy, no local events should be scheduled to conflict with the following diocesan activities:

Solemnity of All Saints — Tuesday, Nov. 1, is a holy day of obligation. Check your parish for Mass times. Masses at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple, will be at 8 a.m., noon and 6 p.m. 

All Souls Day — Wednesday, Nov. 2, Masses at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple will be at 8 a.m., noon and 6 p.m. Check your parish for Mass times. 

First Friday Mass — with rosary and social sponsored by the Catholic Woman’s League. Friday, Nov. 4. Rosary begins at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Ambrose Parish, 1975 South 2300 East, SLC. A catered lunch in the church basement will follow the Mass. RSVP by Nov. 1 to Millie Burningham, 801-484-5035 or taichigrandma@netzero.net. 

CCS Humanitarian Awards Dinner — Friday, Nov. 4, 6 p.m.-9 p.m. This year’s honorees include Elizabeth Smart, Archbishop John C. Wester, and President Russell M. Nelson. For tickets, call 801-428-1216 or email dstamos@ccsutah.org. 

Red Mass for Justice — honoring those involved in the legal profession and justice system. Friday, Nov. 4, noon at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple, SLC. The Most Rev. John C. Wester, Archbishop of Santa Fe, will preside. All are welcome.

Festive Follies — Nov. 4-6, at St. James the Just Catholic Church, 495 N. Harrison Blvd., Ogden. 80 booths for holiday shopping. New this year is a children’s carnival. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.  

Parish Game Night — Friday, Nov. 4, Saint Thomas More Parish, 3015 E. Creek Road, Sandy. Cost: $14. Dinner served at 6 p.m. Games at 6:45 p.m.

Parish Game Night — Saturday, Nov. 5, 7 p.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Parish’s social hall, 670 South 1100 East, SLC., Cost: $15/games, $5/dinner. 

St. Joseph Villa Volunteer Luncheon — Saturday, Nov. 5, starting with an 11:30 a.m. social at the St. Ambrose Parish social center, 1975 South 2300 East, SLC. “A Nutty Affair” is the theme and The “Mixed Nuts Band” will provide entertainment. Tickets: $25; contact Maxine Giovacchini, 801-582-2282, or stop by the St. Joseph Villa gift shop. Proceeds go to help Villa residents.

Eccles Organ Festival —Sunday, Nov. 6, 8 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple, SLC. Organ recital with Alison Leudecke of St. James by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, La Jolla, Calif. Free and open to the public.  

Veterans Breakfast — Sunday, Nov. 6, 9-11 a.m. in the St. John the Baptist Elementary School multi-purpose room, 300 East 11800 South, Draper. Knights of Columbus Council 12181 invites veterans and their families from the Catholic community to enjoy a free breakfast. 

Fall musical — Judge Memorial CHS will present “In the Heights” Nov. 4-6, and 11-12 in the school auditorium, 650 South 1100 East, SLC. Show times are 7 p.m. Nov. 4-5 and Nov. 11-12; 2 p.m. matinee on Nov. 6. Tickets: $5/students and senior citizens, $10/general public, available at the door.

End-of-life Issues — Marcy Thaeler will present a talk on Catholic end-of-life issues, including the Catholic position on extraordinary medical measures at the end of life, organ donation, the meaning of suffering, and how to say good-bye.  Thursday, Nov. 10, 6:30 p.m. in Saint Rose of Lima Parish’s social hall, 210 Chapel St., Layton. Fundraiser for the Inn Between — Fundraiser featuring Vegas-style games for the Inn Between, which cares for homeless, hospice men and women.
