Four students at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Elementary/Middle School were awarded $25 from Knights of Columbus Council 6966 for prize-winning posters in an effort to raise awareness of drug and alcohol abuse. Awards were presented at an all-school Mass on Nov. 1, by Knights of Columbus representatives Clarence Illario and Michael Carmody, and art teacher Marcy Mullholand.

The annual contest was open to all Blessed Sacrament students ages 8 to 14. Its purpose is to promote awareness of the major societal impact of drug and alcohol abuse and to generate ideas for Knights of Columbus' own anti-substance abuse posters and literature. The student artists use a variety of mediums in constructing their posters. The winning posters are submitted to the state level competition; from there, winners progress to the international competition.
