The St. Benedict’s Foundation distributed funds to 18 beneficiary programs on Feb. 14 during the annual Funds of Love event. The foundation, a ministry of the Sisters of St. Benedict, will dissolve this year because the sisters are selling the monastery in Ogden and returning to their mother house in Minnesota. Since 1996, the foundation has distributed $5.6 million to non-profit organizations in northern Utah that serve women and children. The distributions from the foundation will continue for the next four years, overseen by United Way of Northern Utah. Shown from left are Benedictine Sister Mary Zenzen (seated), Benedictine Prioress Michaela Hedican, who came from Minnesota for the event; Nancy Essary, principal of Saint Joseph Elementary School; and Joanna Wheelton, president of Saint Joseph Catholic High School. St. Joseph Catholic Schools are beneficiaries of the Funds of Love. See more photos on the Intermountain Catholic facebook page.
