Blessed Sacrament School earns 6th National Promising Practice Award

SANDY — Blessed Sacrament fourth-graders created ceiling tiles depicting the virtues of kindness and courtesy, and in the process helped the school win its sixth National Promising Practice Award.

The awards, presented by the Character Education Partnership (CEP), are “for unique and specific exemplary practices that encourage the ethical, social, and academic growth of K-12 students through character education,” according to the CEP press release.

This year, 315 awards were given to public schools, charter schools, private schools, youth-serving organizations and school districts in five nations and 23 states.  

“This year’s winning practices include unique anti-bullying programs, creative ways to integrate character and academic subjects, effective strategies for developing student leadership, and activities that build community-within the school and beyond,” the press release states.

At Blessed Sacrament, the tiles have been permanently installed in the Media Center ceiling. The fourth-grade students collaborated on the project under the direction of Marcy Mullholand, art teacher.
