Brother Carl L. Holton, OCSO

HUNTSVILLE — Carl L. Holton (Brother Carl), 88, passed away on May 13, 2014, at St. Joseph Villa. 

He was born Nov. 11, 1925 in St. Louis, Mo. to James and Caroline Holton and took solemn profession as a Trappist monk on Jan. 6, 1984. He had been a member of the Abbey of Our Lady of the Holy Trinity monastery community for more than 40 years. He came with a master’s degree in forestry and years of experience that helped the Huntsville abbey in its farming and range operations. In later years, as his health began to fail, Brother Carl’s care for the monks was returned by their care for him, in the monastery infirmary and in professional health care facilities.

A funeral Mass was celebrated May 17 at the monastery.
