Chairperson sought for Respect for Life Commission + Enlarge

As Respect for Life Month approaches in October, the Diocese of Salt Lake City is seeking a new Respect for Life Commission chairperson. This individual coordinates with Crystal Painter, director of the diocese’s Office of Marriage and Family Life, in planning and organizing activities of the pastoral plan within the diocese, with spiritual direction from Father Sam Dinsdale.

The Respect for Life Commission provides support for the deaneries, parish ministries and Catholic schools in education, pastoral care, prayer and worship and public policy advocacy in support of life from conception to natural death. It also organizes annual diocesan-level activities and events, provides resources and materials to parishes and helps develop Respect for Life ministries in those parishes.

Individuals may be nominated to this volunteer position by others, or may complete the nomination form themselves. Dr. Catherine Stokes is the immediate past chairperson.

“I encourage anyone who feels a calling to help build a culture of life in the diocese to apply for this position,” Painter said, adding that if two individuals would like to serve as co-chairs to the position, she would be supportive.

To obtain a nomination form to be a part of the Respect Life Commission as a member or as a chair/co-chair, email Painter at crystal.painter@dioslc.org. All nominations must be approved by the individual’s pastor.
