SALT LAKE CITY — On June 28 the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City celebrated the ordinations to the priesthood of Father Jorge Roldán as well as to the transitional diaconate for Deacons Joseph Delka and David Trujillo, who are preparing to be priests.
After the Mass of Ordination, the celebration continued in the courtyard of the Cathedral of the Madeleine.
Tacos, nachos, fruit, tamales, salsa and a variety of other dishes were offered to all; this was possible through the help and donations of all the community members who gathered to celebrate.
“I am a parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe, but I am here not as a parishioner, instead I am here as part of the Catholic diocese who is thrilled to have a new priest,” said Virginia Morante as she carried some jars with water to the serving table.
“The reception is a time to celebrate because the ordination to the priesthood was the focal point for many years of studies and preparation for Father Jorge and now he is beginning of a new phase of his ministry with us,” said Sergio Verna, a Saint Mary of the Assumption parishioner; Father Roldán has been assigned to her Park City parish as parochial vicar.
The celebration was also possible through the efforts of the diocesan vocations office, which put together the reception through the donations of goods and time from the people.
