Bishop of Salt Lake City

We are blessed to have a chapter of the National Council of Catholic Women in our diocese, headed this year by Cheryl Johnson. This dedicated group of women serves the church in a variety of ways: their own personal growth in holiness, helping the bishop in specific projects and by assisting pastors and diocesan leaders in whatever way they can. We are so proud of the fact that the past national president was our very own Bobbie Hunt. She served very capably and brought the organization forward with new ideas and bold leadership. Monsignor Servatius is currently the national chaplain of the NCCW, a position he has held before. So you can see that our diocese is a big player in the organization, both locally and nationally.

The weekend before last, all the councils in the Province of San Francisco met here in Salt Lake City, under the direction of Mary Adams, the Provincial Director. They heard inspirational speakers, gathered for prayer and had a wonderful supper during which they deepened their bonds of affection and support. A jazz band from Judge Memorial Catholic High School entertained during the meal and impressed the women with their talent. They even made me look good as we joined together in a rendition of I Left My Heart in San Francisco! My heart is here as well, but it just so happens that this is the only piece I can play straight through with less than 20 wrong notes!

Many thanks to the ladies of our DCCW. We owe you a great debt of gratitude as you continue your signal service to our diocese.
