Drug/alcohol abuse awareness poster winners
Friday, Feb. 06, 2015
Four students at Blessed Sacrament School each were awarded $25 from Knights of Columbus Council 6966 for prize-winning posters in an effort to raise awareness of drug and alcohol abuse. The awards were presented at an All School Mass on Jan. 14 by Michael Carmody, Knights of Columbus representative, and Marcy Mullholand, art teacher.
The annual contest, which is open to all Blessed Sacrament students ages 8 to 14, is intended to promote awareness of the major societal impact of drug and alcohol abuse, and generate ideas for Knights of Columbus’ own anti-substance abuse posters and literature.
This year’s winners are Madison Hanna, Sara Ledbetter, Layne Homer and Karley Viczian. The student artists used a variety of media in constructing their posters. The winning posters have been submitted to the state level competition; from there, winners progress to the international competition.
