Ecumenical look at Laudato Si'

Dr. Juliana Boerio-Goates, parish coordinator of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish, makes a presentation on Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’ to the Salt Lake Interfaith Roundtable during their regular monthly meeting on Nov. 16. After the presentation, the group members decided to continue their conversation on the topic at their December meeting. Brian Farr, of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Public Affairs Office and the Interfaith Roundtable’s chairman for Peace Initiatives, said he had read the apostolic exhortation previously; “I largely read it to see what he had to say about interfaith, and he comes back to that a number of times, about the importance of working together for the common good.” After Boerio-Goates’ presentation, Farr said he planned to re-read parts of the document, particularly those that discuss the root causes of the problem.
