Eleanor Dorothy Melville Moss Kilbourn

Eleanor Dorothy Melville Moss Kilbourn, 88, died of Alzheimer’s on Sept. 6, 2016, at Barton Creek Assisted Living.
She was born in Boston, Mass. on April 18, 1928, daughter of Arthur Melville and Isabelle Long. She graduated from Regis College, Weston, Mass. with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. She earned her Master of Social Work degree from Boston College Graduate School of Social Work. 
She married Robert E. Moss in Newton, Mass. on Aug. 29, 1953, and they moved to Ogden, Utah with their family in 1962. She married Vern Kilbourn in 1979, and they were later divorced. 
She was employed by the Utah Department of Health, Bureau of Handicapped Children’s Service, from 1970 to 1993 as a licensed clinical social worker. She obtained gerontology certification from Weber State University and worked in that field for many years after retiring. 
She was an active member of the Catholic Church, serving as Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Eucharistic, and in various organizations and capacities. 
She is survived by her four children: MaryAnne Mulvihill, Virginia (Patrick) Riley, Robert (Lois) Moss, and Elizabeth (James) Martinez; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, William Melville, Thomas Melville, and David Melville. 
She was preceded in death by her first husband, her parents, her brother Arthur Melville and her sister Mary Murphy. 
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Olaf Catholic Church on Sept. 12. Interment was at the Bountiful City Cemetery.  
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to made to Alzheimer’s Association, 855 E. 4800 S., SLC, UT 84107.
