Eugene “Gene” Dalpias, 82, passed away peacefully in Ogden on Nov. 2, 2017.
He was born to Victor and Ester Dalpias, on Feb. 8, 1935, in Ogden. Gene married Dolores Brown, in 1955, and together they raised five children.
Gene worked at General Mill Flour Mill for 10 years until it closed, and then at Hill Air Force Base, retiring after 31 years. The last six years of government service were at Kadena Air Force Base in Japan.
Gene was a founding member of St. James the Just Catholic Church and lived his faith for his entire life. He is remembered for his outgoing nature and his ability to strike up a conversation anytime, anywhere.
He loved being surrounded by family and teasing his grandkids and great-grandkids. Gene was raised on a farm and never lost his love of being outside and playing in the dirt. He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting, watching his Westerns, and sporting events. He traveled the world, but, was especially content at home with family.
Gene is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dolores; his sister, Frances (Don) Bird; brother, Jerry (Stv) Dalpias; his five children: Dave (Chris) Dalpias, MaryAnn (Steve) Wriedt, Tina Dalpias, Jim (Donna) Dalpias, and Linda (John) LeCain; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Doris; and brother, Ernest.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Nov. 11 at St. James the Just Catholic Church; burial followed in the Ogden City Cemetery.
