Flat Francis at St. John the Baptist Elementary

Saint John the Baptist Elementary School celebrated and welcomed Pope Francis to the United States with an “attitude of gratitude,” which is the school’s theme this year. Principal Nikki Ward instructed each student to cut out a “Flat Francis” (a paper caricature of the Holy Father) and take a picture with him that expressed why he or she felt gratitude. Students have posted their Flat Francis photos on their lockers, and all along the school hallways there is evidence of appreciation and gratitude. Shown is one of the kindergarten classes with the 15-foot “Flat Francis” that graces the school’s gathering space.
