May 20, 1941 ~ August 27, 2024
Beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandma, great-grandma (“GG”) and friend Genevieve Quintana, 83, passed away peacefully in the company of family at home, on August 27, 2024.
She was born May 20, 1941 in Las Trampas, New Mexico, a small farming community surrounded by the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, to Benceslado and Elizaida Cruz Lopez. She grew up in Lark, Utah, and attended Bingham High School.
Genevieve met her sweetheart, Bart Quintana, and they married on December 20, 1958. She lived in Midvale, in the same home for over 58 years. They were the proud parents to Jennifer and Valerie. They shared almost 36 years together before Bart’s passing in August 1994. A devout member of St. Therese of the Child Jesus Parish, for decades Genevieve served her church, community and individuals in need, highlighted by her time at St. Vincent de Paul dining hall, the Weigand Resource Center for the homeless, St. Therese Food Bank and bereavement luncheons. In 2010, she was named Woman of the Year by St. Therese Parish for her devotion and service to the community, an award she was extremely proud of.
Genevieve is survived by her daughters Jennifer (Mark) Neisen, Valerie (Mark) Miller; grandchildren Alexis and Mia and great-granddaughter Aria; her siblings Edward (Theresa), Bernice Martinez, Benceslado (Charlene) and Edna (Steve) Downing; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by parents Benceslado and Elizaida; husband Bart; brothers Joe, Adelaido, Manuel (Laura), Robert, Michael; and sisters Edelia (Rudy) Romero and Lucy Wright.
Family and friends are welcome to gather on September 6, 2024, at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, 7832 Allen St., Midvale, at 9 a.m. with a rosary to follow at 9:30 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. A dedication of the grave at Midvale City Cemetery will be held on September 7 at 11 a.m.
A special thank you to granddaughters Alexis and Mia for their special love and care for GG. Also, for all the wonderful staff at Home Instead Home Health Care, for their dedication and care.
