SALT LAKE CITY — George Everett Cardone Stocks Taylor, 87, died March 7, 2011, at home after a battle with cancer.

Taylor was born Jan. 28, 1924, in Grand Junction, Colo., to Joseph Albert Cardone and Thelma Aura Stocks. He married Ethel Pierce on May 27, 1964. He was the most loving caring husband, father, and grandfather. He and Ethel were selected as Valentines of the Year through the ‘Salt Lake Tribune’ in 1983.

He was a letter carrier for the United States Post Office for 30 years, and loved all his customers and they loved him. As a carrier he came in contact with many people who needed help. He used to collect clothes for people on his route and at Christmas he would give cash to some of them. He received a letter from the IRS for courteous service. After retiring from the US Postal Service, he worked for Brookfield Postal Uniforms for another 30 years, until this past September, when his health started to fail. He received a Salesman of the Year for selling $1 million in uniforms within his first few years. His territory covered all of Utah and parts of Nevada. He received many service awards throughout his 60 years of professional customer service. He was a World War II veteran, member of the DAV, retired member of Branch 111 US Post Office. He also worked several odd jobs to support his large family and when the day was long enough, he was there to support his sons, daughters and grandchildren in all their sports and extra activities.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel, children George II (Brenda), Kelly (Yvonne), Wendy (Jack "Trey") Flowers III, Robert (Mellanie), Kathleen, Richard, Linda, Caroline (Richard) Jensen, John Lundgren and many very special grandchildren and great-grand-children.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Committal was in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
