The Very Rev. Martin Diaz, rector of the Cathedral of the Madeleine, (second from right) enjoys a choral performance at the Maryam Mosque open house with philanthropist Khosrow Semnani, Paul Edwards, deputy chief of staff to Utah Gov. Gary Herbert, and Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams.
The name Maryam "is a beautiful name to have," Fr. Martin Diaz, rector of the Cathedral of the Madeleine, said at the Maryam Mosque open house today, because Mary, as the mother of Jesus, "makes all of us brothers and sisters. ... This mosque is a sign that whatever faith, whatever we are, whatever differences we have, we are first and foremost brothers and sisters with one another." The Intermountain Catholic will have the story in the Dec. 16 issue.
