J.E. Cosgriff Memorial School Visit + Enlarge
By The Most Rev. John C. Wester
Bishop of Salt Lake City

I was extremely impressed by a tour I took of J.E. Cosgriff Memorial School this past week.  Father Andrew Skrzypiec, pastor of Saint Ambrose Parish, joined me as Mrs. Betsy Hunt gave us a real “cook’s tour” of the campus and introduced me to the various classes.  The programs at the school are truly incredible, with a special emphasis on reading skills.  There are many programs aimed at tracking all the students and giving them the help they may need.  The library is remarkable with resources galore.  I was most impressed by my visit and I can see why the school is so popular with the parent community.

I finished my tour by teaching a class on stewardship to Mr. Jim Larson’s eighth grade homeroom class.  I was impressed with what the students already knew.  They seemed very eager to deepen their knowledge, their positive response giving me high hopes for the stewardship program that will begin in the diocese this coming October.

Father Andrew invited several of us to lunch at the rectory to top off a splendid visit. Many thanks to Father Skrzypiec, Mrs. Hunt and the whole staff for a great day!
