“More Than Yesterday, Less Than Tomorrow”
Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Joan B. Wesley, born in 1922, died February 9, 2018 in Sandy.
She was born to Harold and Hazel Brunsell in Sheridan, Wyo. She lived there all of her childhood and young adult life. She spent many happy summers at the cabin in Story, Wyo. with her mom and dad, reading and riding horses. She was crowned Miss Sheridan and reined over the Sheridan Days Rodeo.
She went off to Birmingham, Ala. to the University of Alabama for college. There she met a very handsome football player, Norm Wesley, the love of her life, and fell in love at first sight. The rest is history. She married Norm on August 26, 1942 in Sheridan, Wyo. She spent the first year of their marriage with him going base to base as he trained and prepared for Army service in the South Pacific. From that union five children and seven moves later, she came back to Utah and has called it home for 18 years.
She was a very devoted Catholic all her life.
Her children would like to thank her caregivers, Leah and Virginia; Intermountain Hospice, Bradley and Josie for their wonderful care of our mother. We couldn’t have done it without all of you. In her 95 years she has made many friends and we want to thank them for all the calls and visits to check on her.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Norman R. Wesley. She is survived by her children, Sister Suzanne CSJ of St. Louis, Mo.; Donna and Lamar Jorgensen of Sandy, Utah; Jo and Tom Chapman of San Ramon, Calif.; Norm and Kim Wesley of Lake Forest, Ill.; and Mary and Jerry McDaniel of Casselberry, Fla.; grandchildren Tommy, Amee, Marc, Josh, Matt, Lara, Maren, Brook, Katie, Patrick and Andrew, and their spouses. She also leaves 14 great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated February 15, 2018 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment was at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her name to hospice or your favorite non-profit organization.
