JoyAnn Emily Reading

JoyAnn Emily Reading passed peacefully at home on January 31, 2023, in Draper. Born to Harry and Hazel Lykken of Grafton, North Dakota, after college Joy Ann moved to Salt Lake City and married George Richard “Dick” Reading on October 10, 1958.   

 In 1983, her beloved husband, Dick, passed away, leaving Joy Ann to raise her five children: Daniel Lee (Nancy), Draper; Patricia Cresalia, Piedmont, South Dakota; Dr. Stephanie Wallace, Colorado Springs, Colorado; Michael (Penny) Grafton, North Dakota; and Emily (Roger) Barrell, Colchester, England.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren and brother Lee C. Lykken of Grafton, North Dakota. In addition, the families of Joseph Reading, Calvin and Dottie Reading and Robin and Jean Reading. The Reading family has been active members of the parishes of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, Blessed Sacrament and the early mission church of St. John the Baptist.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on February 6, 2023 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Draper. She will be laid to rest at a later date in the family’s cemetery in North Dakota. Arrangements are entrusted to Starks Funeral Parlor; share your memories with her family at www.starksfuneral.com
