Karen Joy Mayes-Carlson died Aug. 31, 2011. She was born in Minnesota on Oct. 20, 1943 to Leonard and Maxine Mayes. A 1961 graduate of Ogden High School, she married Henry Carlson on June 2, 1962. She worked at I.R.S in Ogden, from which she retired in 2005. She is survived by her father, Leonard; sister, Francis Mayes-Vigil; her children Paul Carlson, Michele Carlson-Vanderzee and Erin Carlson-Cook; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Maxine Robb-Mayes.
A joint funeral Mass for Karen and her husband, Henry, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 514 24th St., Ogden. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011 with rosary recited at 6 p.m. at the Larkin & Sons Mortuary 496 24th St., Ogden.
