We in the Kearns-Saint Ann School’s 7th grade conducted a science lab to create 3-D cells and have a little fun. We prepared for the lab by learning about all the cells parts and functions. Then we had to find candies that would work for the different parts of the cell. We stocked up on candy until there were enough for all of us.

For cytoplasm, we used orange Jell-o, but besides that, we could use whatever we wanted. I used licorice for the cell wall and some jelly and Skittles for the nucleus and nucleolus. There were several more parts to the cell and many possible ways to create it. It helped me to visualize the cell and its parts. It was an educational and fun lab.
