Our diocese is ably served by the pastoral center's liturgical office, which is directed by Mr. Timothy Johnston and supported by Mrs. Ruth Dillon, his assistant. In turn, Mr. Johnston works closely with dedicated diocesan collaborators who form the various committees that strive to promote good liturgy throughout the diocese. The various committees, namely, Music Committee, Rites Committee, and Arts Committee, are coordinated by the liturgical commission, which promotes and implements beautiful and prayerful liturgies in our local church. This past week, we had what we call a plenary session in which the commission and the committees come together to plan for the new year. As always, I was greatly impressed by their enthusiasm and competence. These men and women who give so much of their time and talent to the liturgical life in our diocese are a great support to Mr. Johnston and they, in turn, appreciate his guidance and insights.
In your name and mine I wish to thank the members of the Liturgical Commission and the Liturgical Committees for their hard work. This will be a particularly exciting year as we host the Southwest Liturgical Conference in early February and as we begin to use the third edition of the Roman Missal in Advent later this year. I thank Timothy, Ruth, and all the members of the liturgical commission and committees. Your work is deeply appreciated.
