SALT LAKE CITY — Margaret Tsuyako Kasai Oki, "Chako," 89, passed away June 18, 2013. Oki was born in Fife, Wash. on Sept. 29, 1923, to Ume Akiyama and Norio Kasai. She completed high school in Fife before being sent to the Minidoka War Relocation Center in Idaho. She completed a degree at the Holy Cross School of Nursing and became a delivery room nurse at Holy Cross Hospital. She married Peter Mitsuo Oki on Feb. 23, 1949. Oki is survived by six children: Judith, Jeanne (Charles Lundgren), Russell (Julianne), Jocelyn (David Ogata), Patrick (Jennifer) and Julie (William Maurey) and six grandchildren. Oki was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church.
