KEARNS — In preparation for receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation, more than 280 young people at St. of Francis Xavier Parish in Kearns participated in a retreat with talks given by Father Eugenio Yarce, pastor.
“Some of the themes were also presented by the church’s prayer group and others by the parish catechists,” said Jazmin Muñoz, the parish’s religious education coordinator.
In addition to the presentations, the young people also enjoyed activities, music and food.
“After lunch they also had the opportunity to play with their classmates and with the people who were at their workshop tables,” Muñoz said.
The day concluded with the celebration of Mass.
Muñoz said that the large number of young people receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation at the parish was in large part because of the support of Fr. Yarce, “Francisca Holguín Celso García, Bulmaro Vargas; Tim Lozano, Carlos Vargas, Laura Castillo, Verónica López y Cesar Cisneros, and all the catechists and the parents, all supporting these young people.”
Bishop Oscar A. Solis conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation at the parish on May 12.
