Slapshot MVP! Wilson Lamb, Judge Memorial CHS Class ’12 and senior captain for the hockey team, has been named Utah High School Hockey’s "Robinson MVP- North."

Youth Making a Difference! Aysia Archuleta, a Saint Catherine of Siena Newman Center parishioner, senior at East High School and member of YMAD, will be leaving March 22nd for the island of Ilo Ilo in the Philippines. She will be part of a group of American teens going to the Philippines to work with underprivileged children, helping to structure the education system and providing proper school supplies, medical supplies and a learning environment.

In Remembrance! Carl A. Balcerak, a veteran Catholic journalist who worked at Catholic News Service in the 1950s and ’60s and was a founding editor of the diocesan newspaper in Harrisburg, Pa., died Feb. 21 at the Baltimore-Washington Medical Center. Balcerak, 90, also was founding editor of Momentum, the magazine of the National Catholic Educational Association.

All-Star Selection! Nick Halloran, a freshman at Juan Diego CHS, was selected to play in the Utah High School Hockey All-Star Game.

Nationally Featured! Nick Brown, Che Diaz, Grace Best-Devereux and Hayden Richardson, seniors at Judge Memorial CHS, have been featured on the New York Times Learning Network, commenting on the article "On Violence in Hockey: Students Have Their Say."

Future Griffin! Rachel Enloe, a senior at Juan Diego CHS, signed a letter of intent to attend and play volleyball at Westminster College.

Academic Splash! Garam Kim, Judge Memorial Class of 2009, now a member of the women’s swimming and diving team at New York University, has received 2011-2012 University Athletic Association (UAA) Winter Sport All-Academic honors.

Player of the Year! Chelsea Farrell, Judge Memorial Class of 2009, has been named LaxMagazine.com’s US Lacrosse Women’s Collegiate Lacrosse Associates (WCLA) Division II Preseason Player of the Year.

In Memoriam! Retired Bishop John C. Reiss, of Trenton, who served as auxiliary bishop and bishop in his home diocese, died March 4 at Morris Hall, the diocesan home for the aged in Lawrenceville. He was 89.
