A Golden Time! John and Elaine Kucera, parishioners of Immaculate Conception Parish in Copperton, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 22.

3peat Academic! Cort Dennison, Judge Memorial CHS class of 2007, senior captain and linebacker for the University of Washington Huskies, has earned Academic All-Pac 12 honors.

Academic Player! Sean Sellwood, Judge Memorial CHS class of 2008, has earned Academic All-Pac 12 first team honors and has also been named to the Capital One Academic All-District football team.

Big Winners! Dawn and John Haberkorn a were the winners of the statue of the Virgin Mary that was raffled off at Christ the King Parish in Cedar City.

Appointed! Father John William Crossin, a member of the Oblates of St. Francis De Sales, has been named executive director of the Secretariat for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).

Appointed! Cardinal Bernard F. Law, former archbishop of Boston, has been replaced as archpriest of the Rome Basilica of St. Mary Major, the Vatican announced. Cardinal Law turned 80 Nov. 4, at which time he stopped being a member of Roman Curia agencies. Pope Benedict XVI named Spanish Archbishop Santos Abril Castello, the Vatican’s vice chamberlain, to the post.
