Happy Anniversary! The Most Rev. John C. Wester, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City, will celebrate the eighth anniversary of his installation on March 14; Father Martin Diaz, pastor of The Cathedral of the Madeleine, will celebrate the 37th anniversary of his priestly ordination on March 17; and Father Showriu Rayalu Kalva, administrator of Saint Helen Parish, will celebrate the 20th anniversary of his priestly ordination on March 10. 

Poetry Out Loud! 2015 Poetry Out Loud winners from Judge Memorial CHS are:

• First place – senior Matt Krump, who recited “Tomorrow” by Dennis O’Driscoll;

• Second place – sophomore Rose-Anna Tafaoialii, who recited “For Love” by Robert Creeley; 

• Third place – sophomore Foster Dennin, “For the Young Who Want To” by Marge Piercy.

Best Of!: Judge Memorial Catholic High School’s literary magazine earned the rank of “Highest Award” in the 2015 National Council of Teachers of English.

National Merit! Ian Gorrell-Brown, Erin Malooly, Christopher Payne and Saylor Soinski, Judge Memorial CHS students, were named finalists in the annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

Well Written! Juan Diego CHS students took home awards from the UVU Journalism Conference:

• Best Front Page Newspaper Design – 3rd place, Staff 

• Best Overall Newspaper Design – 3rd place, Staff

Best Column – 3rd place, Emily Pascua and Lindsay Cronin

Best Feature Story – 3rd place, Tamara Gilbert

                         – 1st place, Sammy Mora

Best News Story – 3rd place, Nash Elder

Best Sports Story – 3rd place, Lindsay Cronin

                       – 2rd place, Sammy Mora
