Randy O'Brien
September 12, 1955 ~ November 18, 2021

Randy O’Brien fought the fight of his life until the bitter end. He took his last breath in the early hours of Thursday, November 18, 2021 with the love of his life, Trish, by his side.
Randy was born to Carmela Fata O’Brien on September 12, 1955 in Salt Lake City. He was raised by his single mom along with his sister Cherrie. They grew up in the Avenues area, then Randy graduated from Judge Memorial Catholic High School, working after school and on weekends to pay for his tuition.
Randy was always involved in athletics, but his passion was baseball and his beloved Chicago Cubs. He passed that passion onto his son and grandsons. Randy was a railroader and worked as a conductor on the Rio Grande, then the Union Pacific for almost 30 years until his health issues drew him away.
With all of Randy’s health struggles, he never gave up. He was always optimistic and took every setback like a man. He was referred to as Randy “Ironman” O’Brien, tough as nails. He kept his strong personality and wit right to the end. Randy was a family man and passionately loved his family with all his heart. He was their biggest supporter and generous almost to a fault. His family will miss him, his personality that was bigger than life and the love he had and exhibited to them every day.
Randy was the father to Avree (George) and Danny (Liz). He was the loving grandfather to Ian (Katelyn), Jake aka Scott, Darrian, Alexis and Jordan. He was the proud great-grandfather to Aleeah and Gianna. He was loved by many extended family members.
A memorial service was held November 23 at Neil O’Donnell Funeral Home. Interment, Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
