This past weekend also included a wonderful gathering of the members from all the Hispanic Charismatic groups throughout the diocese. More than 1,000 people attended the event at the Skaggs Catholic Center. The weekend was filled with Bible study, prayer, social time and quiet reflection. I was honored to celebrate the final Mass on late Sunday afternoon and I was moved by the deep faith of all the participants. The Holy Spirit is touching many hearts in our local Church and Renovación Carismático is proof. I thank Father Javier Virgen, vicar for Hispanic Affairs, for his leadership, as well as Maria de la Cruz Gray, coordinator Remigio Morán and his group leaders. Also, Fathers Eleazar Silva from Saint Francis Xavier Parish and José Barrera-Hernandez from Saints Peter and Paul Parish were very generous in giving of their time to the weekend. Two of our seminarians, José Alejandro Camberos and Jorge Luis Martinez, assisted as well, as did Deacon Ricardo Arias. Jesuit Father Juan Diaz-Vilar from New York was among the presenters, as was Emy Canales from California. Thanks to one and all!
