Reverend Patrick Henry Elliott

The Reverend Patrick Henry Elliott died November 1, 2018 in Salt Lake City as a result of an accidental fall.  He was born September 8, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan to Cecil H. Elliott and Lorraine M. Quinn.

He spent his early years in Detroit, Michigan and was a graduate of Holy Ghost Fathers Seminary High School.  He received a B.A. degree from the theological seminary in Connecticut and a M.A. from Sacred Heart School of Theology in Hales Corner, Wisconsin.  He was ordained to the priesthood on May 19, 2000 in the Cathedral of the Madeleine by Bishop (Archbishop) George H. Niederauer. He served for five years as associate pastor at the Cathedral of the Madeleine and 12 years as pastor of Holy Family Parish in South Ogden, Utah.

He used his many marvelous gifts and talents from his life in the service industry in the building of the new Holy Family church, which was his delight. He was well known for his dynamic sermons and persuasive powers to initiate many new programs and social activities. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a Knight Commander of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem.

Fr. Patrick is survived by his sister, Sharon Lee (Roger) Bernard, as well as two nephews, Christopher and David, and a niece, Laura.

A vigil service will be held on Monday, December 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 East South Temple, Salt Lake City. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 11 at 11 a.m., at the cathedral. Burial will take place at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 275 U St., Salt Lake City.
