 Richard (Dick) Molumby
January 23, 1935 ~ January 23, 2022
Richard “Dick” Molumby, 87, of Ogden died January 23, 2022. He was born January 23, 1935, to Raymond and Consuela (Felker) Molumby in Madison, South Dakota. He graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1953. Dick joined the Air Force at 18 and completed a tour in South Africa in intelligence and communications. After his service in the Air Force, he returned to the states and met Margaret “Margie” Molumby his bride to be, a nursing student at St. John’s McNamara. Dick always liked to say he married “way up.” Margie and Dick married April 30, 1960, and settled in Vermillion, South Dakota, where he attended college at the University of South Dakota.
For Dick’s next career opportunity, he accepted a position with the Boeing Aerospace company working on the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile program leveraging his expertise as telegrapher, one of the first “high-technology” professions of the modern era. He excelled as a Boeing Company program manager and quality control implementing the ICBM weapon systems part of the U.S. Nuclear Triad and Deterrence.
Dick also had a very successful career as a residential realtor, selling homes to friends, co-workers and family for 50+ years. He developed and built 65+ new residential homes, including South Ogden and Glen Cove patio homes in Riverdale.
Dick volunteered many hours on behalf of the St. Joseph Catholic Schools, serving as board president and led the finance committee. He and Margie also were St. Joseph Boosters, supporting 40+ years of fundraising events totaling over $1 million towards school athletics and met lifetime friends. They sent all six children through St. Joseph Catholic Schools in Ogden.
Dick accomplished much, but still had time to enjoy his Irish heritage like the annual and famous Saint Patrick’s Day parties.
It’s just like Dick to leave this world on his birthday, always making an entrance!  We celebrated his love of cars by having a parade of sports and unique cars with his corvette in the lead, back to the Celebration of Life.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at Holy Family Catholic Church on Jan 28, 2022.
The family has set up The Richard Molumby Scholarship Fund for St. Joseph Elementary students, please see link to donate: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=MUFYGCYE2PLS4
