Richard Evert Carroll

OGDEN — Richard Evert Carroll passed away March 6, 2014.

Carroll was born on May 5, 1932 in Ogden, to Vernon J. and Mary Evertsen Carroll. He entered the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, serving at U.S. bases and in England with the 49th Air Division, 47th Bomb Wing until 1956.

He married DeNiese Aug. 31, 1957, in Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Ogden. He worked as an Air Reserve technician and retired in May 1992 as a chief master sergeant, aircraft maintenance superintendent.

Carroll was a member of the Knights of Columbus, B.P.O. Elks Lodge, V.F.W., NRA, and N.A.R.F.E. He was a member of Saint Mary Parish in Ogden, serving as an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion. More recently, he became a member of Saint James the Just Parish.

Carroll is survived by children Teresa (Chris) Woodruff, Catherine (Joe) Muniz, and Margaret (Andy) McGovern; and Richard V. (Andrea) Carroll; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister Vivian (Woody) Haines and a long-time friend, Kay Dean.

Carroll was preceded in death by his parents; wife, DeNiese; and sister Marilyn Carroll Blasé.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. James the Just Catholic Church.
