Rite of Candidacy for Ordination

The Rite of Candidacy for ordination as a priest for Oscar Marquina, a seminarian for the Diocese of Salt Lake City, was celebrated May 20 at the Cathedral of the Madeleine. Bishop Oscar A. Solis was the main celebrant of the Mass. Concelebrants were Msgr. Colin F. Bircumshaw, vicar general, Father Martin Diaz, rector of the cathedral, and Fr. Joseph Delka, who is now the vocation director for the diocese. Father Christopher Gray was the master of ceremonies, and Deacon John Kranz was Deacon of the Mass. Among those attending were numerous other of the diocese’s seminarians, and members of their families. Marquina has completed his second year of pre-theology at Mount Angel Seminary. In July he will leave for Rome, where he will attend the Pontifical North American College.
