HELPER — Robert Edward Grundy, 86, died Sept. 30, surrounded by his family in the home he built 57 years ago.
Robert was born Feb. 19, 1929 in Bingham, Utah to Thomas and Crystal Trauntvein Grundy. He married the love of his life, Jama Capece, June 28, 1948 in Price, Utah, and together they raised four children, 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Robert was a member of the Catholic Church and a staunch member of the United Mine Workers of America Local #8622; he retired from the UMWA in 1991 with over 60 years of service. He was a loyal friend and neighbor who honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy.
He shared a deep love for the outdoors and proudly passed these traditions down to his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting on Tub Ridge; his memory will always whisper softly down the ridge until it comes to rest at his favorite “Sleepy Tree.” He also enjoyed camping and fishing at Rock Creek. Robert leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished and honored for generations to come.
“Rest in peace Dad, we love and miss you.”
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the entire staff of Symbii for their loving care. Also a special thanks to his angels, Autumn, Arin, Courtney and Arrow, your generosity and love will never be forgotten. The family would also like to thank his wonderful neighbors John R. and Leslie Tallerico and Ralph and Sandra Fossat for your years of constant friendship.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Jama Grundy, Helper; two daughters, two sons and their spouses: Cathy (Keith) Robb, Price, Peggy (John) Steele, West Valley, Ed (Nelda) Grundy, Price, Scott (Joy) Grundy, Helper; sisters, Norma Jean (Larry) Dunton, Annette (Neldon) Huff; 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
