SALT LAKE CITY — Ruth Jane McConnell Riley, 85, died April 1, 2013. Riley was born Aug. 14, 1927 to Julia and Clarence McConnell in Jackson County, Minn. She married James Matt Riley on Jan. 29, 1949 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brewster, Minn. She was a devout Catholic and member of Saint Vincent de Paul Parish in Salt Lake City. Riley is survived by husband Jim; sister, Mavis Baumguard; daughters Catherine (Bob Lambert), Mary Ellen, Jane (Hugh Brown), Joan, Rita (Leo Embry), Sara (Paul Colosimo) and Trudi (Jim Frenchik); 16 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Riley was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Lloyd McConnell. A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
