On May 12, 2011 Saint Joseph Catholic school students participated in the May Crowning ceremony to honor "Mary." The May Crowning ceremony involved a procession around the school to the front of the building where a statue of Mary was placed. Students prayed and sang songs in honor of her. Second grade and eighth grade girls then placed fresh flowers around the statue. In addition, representatives from each class brought up a vase of flowers to place around Mary.
