Science and Math came to life at the third annual Family Math & Science Night at Blessed Sacrament Catholic School, on Feb. 2. The evening was overseen by the School Board and was a huge success, with over 200 parents and students in grades pre-K through eight participating.

About 22 hands-on activities were available, including experiments in chemistry with the creation of a gum drop molecule and chemical reactions with the making of goo. Representatives from the University of Utah conducted experiments in DNA and hearing.

"This event gets bigger and better each year," said Jeanne Lindmar, middle school science teacher. "It is important to keep challenging and engaging our students in science and math. This event is just one of the programs we offer to help our students excel in this area."

The evening was held in conjunction with Blessed Sacrament’s Admissions Open House and other Catholic Schools’ Week activities.

"We look forward to expanding this event for next year," said Matthew DeVoll, principal. "It is exciting to work with a School Board that stresses the importance of academic excellence. I am thankful to Mr. Randy Graham and the entire committee for such a successful event."
