Special to the Intermountain Catholic

My vocation to the priesthood is something that I really value, especially now that I am a step closer to my ordination. As Bishop Solis said in his homily during our Mass of Candidacy, our vocation is something that springs from our identity. It is something that the Lord planned long before we were born. And so, it is something we have to freely realize and say “Here I am” to. Our vocation is who we are, and we are called to plunge into its depths. This is true even more so now that we have been officially accepted as candidates for Holy Orders.

I am grateful to be officially accepted as a candidate for Holy Orders. It shows the trust of the diocese and it is therefore a tangible sign of affirmation from the Lord – that he truly desires for me to work in his vineyard, unworthy as I am. It’s moving to be called by the Lord – such a privilege! It is a privilege but it is also a responsibility to be called to build the Kingdom of God in Utah as a priest of the Lord Jesus Christ. This is a huge and unique responsibility, and it is only through the Grace of God that I am where I am right now, and I continue to cling closely to it as I am certainly nothing without his grace.
