The Ogden Pioneer Chapter of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers dedicated a plaque on the site of the Sacred Heart Academy in Ogden, which served as a school from 1892 to 1938, when it became the Western Provincial House of the Sisters of the Holy Cross. Kindergarten and music classes continued to be taught there until 1959, when the building was condemned. The site is now home to the State of Utah Center at Academy Square. Shown from right are Holy Cross Sister Joseph Cecile Voelker, giving the blessing of the plaque; Carlton Schultz, director of public relations for the Ogden Pioneer Chapter of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers, who attended kindergarten at the academy; Stewart Radmall, SUP national director in charge of monuments; Robert H. DeBoer, SUP area vice president; Eldon Capener, SUP president; Dr. M. Paul Southwick, chair of the SUP monument and plaque committee; and Blanche Southwick.
