A spirituality meeting for Spanish-speaking mentors took place at the diocesan Pastoral Center on Nov. 12. Hispanic leaders from parishes and missions throughout the Diocese of Salt Lake City gathered to talk about how to provide better spiritual guidance. They were from the parishes of St. Rose of Lima in Layton, St. Therese of the Child Jesus in Midvale, St. Francis Xavier in Kearns, Notre Dame de Lourdes in Price, among others. “The spiritual mentors are formed to serve as guides and companions to others on their journey to holiness. It is designed for Catholics who have a desire to develop a deep prayer and sacramental life, increase their knowledge of the Catholic faith, grow in the virtues and help others do the same,” according to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. At the meeting, presentations were given by Maria Cruz Gray, director of the diocesan Hispanic Ministry, and Sister Laura Tiburcio, from the Holy Cross Ministries. IC photo/Laura Vallejo
