Saint Joseph Elementary School in Ogden held a story night on Dec. 6, the Feast of Saint Nicholas. The evening featured six adults who read stories to the elementary school students, while the middle school students watched the movie "Elf." Afterward, all gathered for cookies and cocoa in the school cafeteria. The evening was meant to celebrate the school community, said Terry Lane, who organized the event. "We all make this big family together, and the holiday season is a great time for family," she said. Readers were Ogden Mayor Mike Caldwell (shown), who read "Snowmen at Christmas," Father Ken Vialpando, pastor of Saint Joseph Parish, who read "The Christmas Candle;" Nancy Essary, the school’s principal, read "Jacob’s Gift," Robin McCaul, the school’s Parent-Teacher Group president, read "The Gingerbread Pirates;" Kim Stuckey, one of the school’s pre-kindergarten teachers, read "Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer," and Heidi Chudy, a parent volunteer, read "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas."
